Located in the heart of Sabine, along the “Way of Salt” at 53 Km from Rome and 20 Km from  the ancient Rieti, Osteria Nuova boasts a wonderful hilly scenery with important archeological sites and famous folkloristic events that attracts tourists from all over Italy.

The village is situated on a plain, surrounded by green hills and dominated from the north by the Terminillo mountain, a renowned ski resort. 

One of the best well preserved archelogical sites of the Sabine and attraction of Osteria Nuova is “the Grotto of Massacci”, a funerary monument of the II century, on which a farmhouse was built in the XVIII century.

Just next to this site, the first Sunday of each month takes place the biggest fair of the region, where a variety of clothes, appliances, and more importantly gastronomic specialties of the region such as the famous Sabine’s olive oil, honey and “porchetta” (roasted pig) can be found.
